Today’s visionary female and gender expansive electronic artists create new tracks inspired by pioneering heroines of the past. Pioneers celebrates the little-known lineage of female composers who were fundamental to the invention and evolution of electronic music. Against the backdrop of the turbulent socio-political landscape of the 20th century, they fearlessly experimented with machines and early technologies, unlocking processes and techniques that continue to shape how we produce, record and listen to music today. Pioneers includes tracks by Arushi Jain, Loraine James, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, rRoxymore, Leila Adu, Holland Andrews, yuniya edi kwon, TAAHLIAH, Hinako Omori, Kate Simko, Lara Somogyi, Jlin, Laurel Halo and Afrodeutsche.
