Here’s a fascinating piece of Canadian comedy history that rarely surfaces in the wild. Finnigan’s “Dirty Comedy” captures the raw, unfiltered club atmosphere of mid-80s Canadian stand-up at its grittiest. Released on the wonderfully named Banana Records, this album represents that golden era when comedy records were still a legitimate format for comedians to reach audiences beyond the smoky club circuit. Finnigan was part of that second wave of boundary-pushing comedians who emerged after the initial comedy boom, working the circuit when alternative comedy was just beginning to challenge the old guard.
